Dusty and Millie Kiss

Can't Get It Out of My Mind!

I came across a quote by Oliver Wendell Holmes today...

"A person's mind stretched to a new idea can never return to its original dimensions."

I believe Oliver had it right. You see, it's been months since the barn dance, Dusty and Lucky's fight and the kiss and I can't get it off my mind.

I guess once you've kissed someone, you can never think of them quite like you did before the kiss.

Up until that night, I never thought of Dusty as more anything but our ranch foreman and a general pain in the neck. He's always sort of hovering over me, like part his job is to take care of me. I don't like that. I'm an independent gal and can take care of myself.

That's what caused all the trouble that night. If he hadn't been so dog-gone bossy, I wouldn't have flirted with Lucky just to make him mad. I wouldn't have kissed Lucky and I wouldn't have kissed Dusty!

That night...I bet he's forgotten all about it. I bet it didn't mean a thing to him.

Too bad Lucky didn't forget about it! I sure stirred up a hornet's nest with that one. Now, he's got it in his head that I'm interested in him.

I sure made a mess of things!

Maybe it's just because Valentine's Day is coming up that I keep having all these thoughts. I wonder...I wonder if Dusty will...aw, shucks...this is ridiculous!

Dusty isn't the slightest bit interested in me. Just forget it Millie...it was just a kiss!

Still...I wonder...
