Real Monkey's Don't Eat Quiche!

At least not the ones at Sock Monkey Ranch!

I was right, mealtime around the ranch has been quite interesting since Skippy became Betsy's apprentice.

At first things between Betsy and Skippy were a bit strained to say the least and our meals showed it. Charred steaks, lumpy mashed potatoes and weak coffee made for some pretty grumpy ranch hands.

It wasn't long, though before Betsy had whipped Skippy into shape. (I don't think she used a real whip.)

Soon he was cookin' up a storm. He got so good, it was hard to tell who cooked what dish...Betsy or Skippy.

Then things went a little haywire. Skippy started reading cookbooks by famous French chefs and experimentin' with Betsy's recipes. Now, if there's one thing you don't do it's mess with Betsy's prized recipes, so she and Skippy were at it again.

Today was the topper. Betsy was feeling under the weather, so I told her to sleep in and let Skippy make breakfast. We're used to scrambled eggs, bacon, homefries and good hot coffee for breakfast, but this morning was different.

Today we sat down to Quiche Florentine, Flakey Butter Croissants topped with Brandied Peach Flambe' and Fancy French Tea. I personally loved it, but the rest of the monkeys were ready to tie Skippy's tail into a French knot! Especially Mike.

Mike's not one to mince words. "What in tarnation is this slop!" he yelled. "Skippy, I want some real food!"

Skippy emerged from the kitchen and we all gasped. He was wearing one of those fancy, white chef outfits and announced with a sniff..."From now on you will address me as Skipierre!"

To which Mike replied, "I'll address you all right...I'll undress you and whip your skinny little monkey behind if you don't get some real food on this table pronto!"

Well, to make a long story short, Skippy is thinking about leaving Sock Monkey Ranch to pursue his dream of becoming Top Chef.

I sure hope he changes his mind!
