400 Head of Cattle Arrived Today and One Crusty Old Cowboy

We logged in 400 head of cattle today and I'm just plumb tuckered out.

The morning sun and Cletus Dean Baker...better known as Tumbleweed topped the ridge at just about the same time this mornin'. We was on the look out for him, so when we heard those thunderin' hoofs, monkeys come a runnin' from all over the ranch to help with the cows and get a look at a livin' legend.

Cletus Dean Baker AKA Tumbleweed

Tumbleweed is well known round these parts. He's tough as rawhide and sharp as a barbed-wire fence. Every cowboy that's ever met him wants to be him or at least wants to earn his respect. The only soft spot in that old codger's heart is the one he holds for Miss Millie, his favorite niece.

She sure was happy to see him. I got to admit that when I saw her throw her arms around him and give him a big old kiss on the cheek, I'da give anything to be in his boots just then.

It took pert near all day to git them cattle sorted and logged, so we was dog tired when we finally pulled up round the campfire for a little warmth and a cup of coffee before turnin' in.

I had to chuckle under my breath when old Cletus lit into that story bout how he accidentally turned the Rio Bravo Creek into the Rio Grande River. I'd heard it before, but none of the new boys had, so I just played along with the whole thing.

Can't nobody tell a golly-whopper the way that Tumbleweed can!

What? You ain't heard the story? Better check it out...CLICK HERE
