If Cowboys can Ride Wild Bulls, Then I can Hold Miss Millie's Hand

Old Tumbleweed invited me up to the ranch house this evening after supper to watch the rodeo with he and Miss Millie.

I almost said no, on accout of Miss Millie's been sort of avoiding me ever since the barn dance and that kiss I layed on her, but I decided to go ahead anyway.

I sat there watchin' them cowboys take on buckin' broncos and wild bulls and thought to myself, Dusty, old boy, if them cowboys can be brave enough to git out there in that arena and risk life and limb to ride a wild bull, then surely you can git over your shyness and let Miss Millie know how you feel about her.

It took me a while, but I finally got up the nerve to reach over and take her hand. I thought sure she'd pull away and throw a fit. Lord knows she's done that almost every time I try to show her I care, but she did no such thing. She sat right there the rest of the evening holdin' my hand. I never felt anything so soft in my life!
When the rodeo was over, Tumbleweed gave me a wink behind Miss Millie's back and made a hasty retreat to the bunkhouse. Miss Millie walked me to the door and we said good night. I sure wanted to kiss her, but I didn't want to risk it. Holdin' hands was enough for now.

I'll be havin' sweet dreams tonight, I'll tell ya!
