| At age 21, Miss Millie lost
both her Father and Mother in the Horrible Dust Devil Incident
of January 1, 2000 (an unforseen Y2K tragedy). Overcome by
grief, she threw herself into running the ranch, intent on
fulfilling her parents's dream of providing a haven for
monkeys who have lost their way in life.
Proving to be quite a spunky monkey for one so young, Miss Millie won the respect of the ranch hands and unbeknownst to her, the heart of Dusty Layne, the ranch foreman.
Lost and lonely monkey's find their way to Sock Monkey Ranch on a regular basis. Miss Millie welcomes them all. If they need a meal, she feeds them, if they need a job, she puts them to work, if they need shelter, she puts them up in one of the many guest rooms at the ranch.
Through love and kindness, Miss Millie helps each monkey rediscover their zest for living, then helps them get re-established by finding them work outside the ranch. To date, more than 100 monkeys have passed through the gates of Sock Monkey Ranch and have gone on to lead productive, fulfilling lives.
On a personal note, Miss Millie is single...by choice. She's had many offers, but has not yet found her monkey soulmate. (Little does she know that her dream monkey may be found right in her own back yard...if only Dusty weren't so shy around women!)
